Enterprise Awards.
Los Angeles, CA- Hundreds of Southern California’s most influential urban business and community leaders came together for the Urban Business Journal (UBJ) 2004 Urban Enterprise Awards and Small Business Empowerment Breakfast on April 17. 2004. The theme for this year’s awards ceremony was “Honoring Excellence in Social Entrepreneurship.”
Among those honored at this years award ceremony was Roosevelt Roby, Founder and CEO of The World Business Exchange Network www.wbe.net, Congresswoman Juanita Millender McDonald, and John Bryant from Operation Hope.
“I am so profoundly grateful to receive this award from my peers,” said Roby. Roby’s organization is the largest minority owned on-line trade association in the country. He was recognized for his role in promoting global trade in the community and with the local high schools.
“Not only does this award recognize individuals like myself who continuously try to give back, but also recognize black corporate America as a whole, because we have a voice in the community and therefore our efforts should not go unnoticed.”
The awards were given to corporate citizens who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to “giving back” to the communities in which they live work and do business.
“Not only does this event pay homage to the month of April as “Black Business Month” it is also an opportunity for the attendees to network with hundreds of urban professionals while being motivated, educated, uplifted, and inspired by some of our region,” said Kim Anthony founding publisher and event producer.
Other honorees included Al Bolden representing Northrop Grumman, and Hal and Hattie Hollingsworth from BOSS the Movement.
The proceeds from the event will benefit the Urban Leadership Project, the Urban Business Journal’s volunteer leadership development program that provides leadership training for inner-city youth and young adults.
